Difference of Rotating Speed of Decanter Centrifuge

The bowl‘s rotating speed in a Decanter centrifuge can be continuously adjusted across a wide range. This rotational speed manipulation allows control over the separation factor of the decanter centrifuge, catering to diverse mud specifications. Generally, for sludge with larger particles and higher density, a lower separation factor is ideal, while a higher separation factor suits sludge with smaller particles and lower density.

For initial settling sludge, a modest αvalue is sufficient to achieve optimal dewatering by Decanter centrifuge. Despite the reduction in particle size for digested sludge, the increased density maintains the need for an αvalue comparable to primary sludge. The activated sludge, characterized by its low density and small particle size, necessitates a larger αvalue to achieve enhanced dewatering, with the required αvalue increasing with higher Specific Volumetric Index (SVI) values and longer sludge age. When activated sludge is in an expanded state, efficient dewatering is achieved through a high-speed decanter centrifuge. The αvalue for mixed sludge depends on the proportion of activated sludge – a higher ratio demanding a greater αvalue.

Modifying αvalue, while maintaining consistent mud quality, enhances the solid recovery rate and separation liquid clarity. However, elevating αvalue also increases energy consumption. Hence, unless a high solids recovery rate is imperative, an excessively high αvalue is unnecessary.
