GN SLUDGE DEWATERING SCREW PRESS PACKAGE FOR EUROPE SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

This week, GN Separation successfully completed the production of a fully integrated Screw Press Sludge Dewatering System and delivered it to a European client’s site. The system includes a GNDL303 Screw Press and a GNSJY2000 Polymer Dosing Unit, both designed to optimize sewage treatment processes.

Screw Press Overview

The Screw Press serves as the core of the dewatering system, effectively separating liquid from solid sludge. The process begins with sludge entering the feed chamber, where it is gradually compressed as low-speed augers rotate. These augers feature a unique spiral design that creates an increasing pressure gradient along the machine’s length. As the sludge advances through this zone, water is progressively squeezed out, resulting in a concentrated sludge cake. This efficient mechanical separation reduces both operational costs and environmental impact.

A key advantage of the Screw Press is its ability to handle various types of sludge without clogging, making it ideal for municipal wastewater treatment plants. Its versatility allows it to adapt to changing sludge characteristics influenced by seasonal variations, influent water quality, and treatment processes.

Polymer Dosing Unit

The Polymer Dosing Unit complements the Screw Press by preparing and dosing flocculants—chemicals that enhance sludge particle aggregation. By precisely adding these flocculants, sludge particles form larger, more easily separable flocs, improving dewatering efficiency and producing higher-quality sludge cakes.

The GNSJY2000 Polymer Dosing Unit operates automatically, using advanced controls to monitor and adjust polymer dosage. This ensures consistent treatment performance while minimizing polymer consumption. The system includes:

  • A polymer preparation tank
  • A dosing pump
  • A mixing chamber

Together, these components deliver a seamless flow of flocculant to the screw press, optimizing overall system efficiency.

Benefits of the Combined System

  1. Volume Reduction: The system significantly reduces sludge volume, lowering transportation and disposal costs.
  2. Sustainability: Dewatered sludge cakes are easier to manage and can be repurposed for agricultural use or landfilling, contributing to circular economy practices.
  3. Water Recovery: Enhanced water recovery allows for the reuse of treated water, a critical benefit in water-scarce regions.
  4. Eco-Friendly Operation: The system minimizes chemical and energy usage, aligning with global efforts to reduce environmental impact.

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

GN Separation’s successful delivery of this dewatering system underscores its expertise in developing tailored sewage treatment solutions. By focusing on innovation, reliability, and sustainability, the company enables clients worldwide to improve operational efficiency and uphold environmental responsibility.
