GN 3 PHASE DECANTER CENTRIFUGE FOR NORTH AFRICA WASTE OLIVER OIL SLURRY TREATMENT

GN Separation has recently completed the production and successful factory testing of two GNLWS554 3-phase decanter centrifuges, which have now been shipped to a client in North Africa. These centrifuges will be used to recover oil from olive oil sludge, a byproduct of the olive oil production process.

How 3-Phase Decanter Centrifuges Work

3-phase decanter centrifuges are advanced machines designed to separate a mixture into three distinct phases: solids, light liquid (typically oil), and heavy liquid (like water). The process begins when the feed mixture enters the centrifuge bowl, which spins at high speeds. This creates centrifugal force, causing the heavier components (solids and heavy liquid) to move towards the outer edge of the bowl, while the lighter liquid collects at the center. Within the rotating bowl, a scroll conveyor gradually moves the settled solids towards the discharge end, ensuring that they do not get reintroduced into the liquid phases. Meanwhile, the light and heavy liquids are discharged from separate outlets.

Application in Olive Oil Production and Sludge Treatment

Olive oil production generates substantial quantities of waste sludge, which often contains significant amounts of recoverable oil. Traditional disposal methods for this sludge are not only environmentally harmful but also waste valuable oil. The GNLWS554 3-phase decanter centrifuges provide an efficient and sustainable solution by separating the oil from the sludge, allowing it to be recovered and reused in the production process or for other purposes.

Key Features of GN Separation’s GNLWS554 Centrifuge

The GNLWS554 Three-Phase Decanter Centrifuges from GN Separation are designed for demanding applications such as olive oil sludge treatment. One of their standout features is the use of duplex stainless steel for the key rotating components, which provides excellent resistance to corrosion—an essential quality when handling oil-laden sludge, which can be corrosive.

In addition, the centrifuges are crafted using a centrifugal casting process, which enhances the dynamic balance of the rotating parts. This precision manufacturing reduces vibrations and wear, improving the longevity of the equipment and ensuring smooth operation. Such stability is particularly valuable in settings where any downtime could lead to significant disruptions.

The centrifuges also feature an adjustable centripetal pump that controls the interface between the light and heavy liquid phases. This design allows operators to fine-tune the separation process during operation, ensuring that the centrifuge consistently delivers high separation efficiency.

GN Separation’s GNLWS554 3-phase decanter centrifuges combine advanced materials and innovative technologies, making them an ideal solution for recovering valuable oil from waste sludge. These machines are highly effective in supporting a sustainable olive oil production process. For more information, please contact GN Separation.
