GN Separation has recently delivered a complete decanter centrifuge treatment system to an oilfield waste water facility in Africa, strengthening the region’s capability to manage drilling waste and produced water in a more efficient and environmentally compliant manner. The project showcases GN’s modular design concept, integrating several core process packages into a unified, easy-to-deploy solution.
The system supplied by GN Separation is engineered to handle complex oilfield waste water containing solids, residual oil, and chemical contaminants. To ensure stable operation across varying feed conditions, GN configured the package with four major functional modules: the mixing module, decanter centrifuge module, chemical dosing unit, and clean water recovery & transfer module. Each module is skid-based, allowing fast installation and convenient transportation across remote oilfield sites.
The mixing module serves as the front-end homogenization unit. Feed slurry is fully conditioned through mechanical agitation and, when required, chemical pre-mixing. This step ensures consistent viscosity and particle distribution before the waste enters the separation stage.
At the core of the system is GN’s decanter centrifuge module, built around a high-speed two-phase decanter specifically designed for oilfield waste water treatment. The centrifuge provides efficient clarification by removing fine solids and reducing the overall solid load, thereby improving downstream water quality. The unit is equipped with VFD control to handle variations in solids concentration and flow rate.
To enhance separation performance in challenging waste streams, GN integrates a dedicated chemical dosing module. The system features accurate dosing pumps, mixing tanks, and automatic control, allowing coagulant and flocculant dosing to be fine-tuned according to the characteristics of incoming waste water. This significantly improves separation efficiency and ensures consistent discharge quality.
The final component is the clean water recovery and transfer module, which collects clarified water from the centrifuge and pumps it to a holding tank or further treatment section. This module enhances the plant’s overall water reuse rate and supports environmental compliance by minimizing discharge volumes.
By supplying a complete and modular solution, GN Separation helps oilfield operators in Africa achieve reliable solids control, reduced waste disposal costs, and improved environmental performance. The successful delivery once again highlights GN’s capability to support international clients with integrated separation systems tailored to diverse industrial applications.
